I’m here to inform you that the ultimate tomato sandwich exists and it is what I’m deeming a BTO, or Bacon Tomato Onion, rather than the expected BLT, or Bacon Lettuce Tomato sandwich (that I also thoroughly enjoy).

This rendition is worth following a recipe for. It combines a beautiful method where you rub a garlic clove on the toasted bread slices, then scrub it with a rip tomato so it leaves pulp. Drizzle that with olive oil and season with salt. AND THAT IS JUST THE FOUNDATION.

She then advises lathering with mayo, duh, topping with actual tomato slices, thinly sliced white onion and crispy bacon strips. This sandwich is my new passion. Please make it and serve with salt and vinegar kettle chips on sourdough bread.
